Our Residency
We warmly welcome international artists to join the DNβ Art Community residency program; artist Ronnie Deelen is a prime example of our recent invitees. During his residency, Ronnie created an interactive sonic space and collaborated with the CCC (Chengdu Community Congress) to lead a workshop where participants used specialized instruments to "listen" to hidden electromagnetic waves during a sound walk.
In parallel, we co-founded "The Book of the Earth: Art Residency" alongside artist Liu Jiayu, a permanent program dedicated to selecting and supporting outstanding young new media artists. Since its inception, over a hundred artists have joined us to co-author "chapters of the earth" across more than twenty diverse geographical and cultural sites.
A featured component, the "Digital Art Residency," is rooted in the "Cloudy Hills" (Yunqi Shanqiu) area of the DNβ community. By treating the community as soil and residency as methodology, we allow artworks, experiences, and relationships to thrive within real-life public settings. This is exemplified by installations such as Ronnie’s ten-meter-long fiberglass "giant horn," which amplifies both human and non-human sounds, offering a refreshing perspective and a new lens through which to experience the landscape of Renli Village.
