About

Under the moniker Ronnieism, he works on self-initiated illustrations, character designs, and animations, focusing on hand-drawn techniques heavily inspired by nature. As Bleepsworld, he explores sound art, music production, and DIY synth building, often leading workshops that focus on inclusive and accessible approaches to sound-making and building.

Ronnie is the founder of White Noise, an independent record label and event series dedicated to experimental music and interdisciplinary performance. His freelance work as a motion graphics designer includes commercial animation and visual content for clients across creative industries around the world.

Ronnie is an experienced educator and has been teaching at the Royal College of Art since 2015 and at the London College of Communication since 2020, with a focus on communication design, sound design, fine art, and experience design. Central to his teaching is creating a safe and supportive space where students feel confident to thrive and explore creativity in their own way. He is deeply motivated by seeing students gain confidence, discover their own voices, and develop sustainable creative practices.

His animation and motion design practice spans music videos, commercials, and large-scale projects. He often collaborates with other filmmakers and creative teams, and has worked with leading creative agencies on high-profile commissions for global artists and brands. With over 20 years of expertise in Adobe After Effects, Ronnie combines deep technical knowledge with a lifelong drawing practice and a passion for stop-frame and hand-drawn animation.

Outside the studio, Ronnie documents his hikes and explorations through Wildwalkabout, an ongoing project that celebrates the nature and experiences that inspire his artistic process. Through these intersecting practices, Ronnie Deelen builds bridges between disciplines and communities, always seeking new ways to connect ideas, people, and places.

Another World

Within the DNβ community, a sonic space has been created where viewers can interact with the installation, immersing themselves in diverse auditory environments to rediscover a world that exists all around us yet often goes unnoticed.

The installation measures ten meters in length and three meters in height, constructed from fiberglass and supported by an internal stainless steel frame. By capturing and amplifying both human and non-human sounds, it offers people new ways and perspectives to experience the rural landscape.

The structure itself takes the form of a giant horn; it can be used to listen to the innate sounds of nature, or people can speak and project other sounds into it to interact with the piece. In real-time, together with nature, they co-create a refreshing sonic world and experience Renli Village through a brand-new lens.

November

For his second trip to China, Ronnie chose to return to our community once again. This time, he brought along more creative activities and interactive experiences. He hosted workshops in the community, where he shared his creative processes for illustration and animation, and joined everyone in collecting sounds of nature together.

The Inaudible Sounds Workshop

We collaborated with Ronnie and the CCC (Chengdu Community Congress) to host this workshop. During the session, participants joined Ronnie on a sound walk, using specialized instruments to listen to the hidden electromagnetic waves that permeate our world.

The Flip Book Workshop

The Flip Book Workshop hosted by Ronnie and co-delivered with students from the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts has successfully concluded. On-site, Ronnie personally led and guided the session: he not only explained the fundamental principles of animation in detail to the students, breaking down the underlying logic of how a sequence of static images creates a dynamic effect when flipped rapidly, but also shared practical techniques for ensuring visual coherence, providing hands-on guidance to help everyone draw consecutive frames with subtle changes on each page.

Ronnie also led the children from Ziyang Lingkong Primary School to participate in this workshop, bringing these innocent young participants an unforgettable art enlightenment experience.

Ronnie's little book

During his residency, Ronnie documented numerous moments he experienced at DNBeta, including conversations with digital nomads and encounters with the village’s animals. His work is vivid, endearing and brimming with genuine humanity.
